In this Episode of theShugrHeds… We do the Oreo Cookie Quest Challenge
…We got Snow, We got Ice, We got Too cold so we came home and drank Hot Chocolate and ate Oreo Cookies – YUM!
I cannot mention the word “Oreo” without bursting into a rendition of the chant that the wicked witch’s soldiers sing as they march into the castle in the Wizard of Oz. “Oreo, Oreeeo!”
I am not entirely convinced that this is what they say, but it amuses me every time I think of it.
Anyway, this post is an entry for @BritMums #OreoCookieQuest, sponsored by Oreo.
Oreo is celebrating the Great Cookie Quest and anyone can take part and win some fantastic prizes, including a ‘once in a lifetime’ trip to California and the jaw dropping Googleplex!!!
All you have to do is go to their website, scan an oreo cookie and type in the code on your promotional packet. You may have spotted them in stores already, but if not, they look like this.
If ever you needed an excuse to treat yourself to some Oreos, now is that time! Pick yourself up a packet (or 2), enjoy a munch and possibly win a great prize! Googleplex is the ultra cool Google headquarters in Mountain View, California. I have to admit, I didn’t really know much about Googleplex so had a look at pictures online. It looks A – MA – ZING! It’s like Disneyland for Google’s employees! With technicolour fixtures, fun statues, lush gardens, colourful bikes to get around the complex and a slide to get from one level to another. Yes, you read correctly, they have a slide!!
My kids love Oreos (and I include myself in the term “kids”), so when I told them that we were taking part in our own cookie quest, they we somewhat excited, to say the least.
This challenge is all to do with spending quality time together as a family and enjoying those special moments where memories are made. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you are having fun together. And that’s all that children really want and need, isn’t it?
For our family time, we made the most of the sudden snowfall and schools closure to go for a little adventure in the woods near us. Now, I am not a huge lover of the snow, I find it to be a terrible inconvenience and, if truth be told, would much rather be snuggled up indoors, but I know the kids love it and it is important for them to get out and experience it when we get it. I could go on and on about the chaos the snow causes for us Brits, but that is a whole other blog post.
Well, like I say, we went for a little wander in the woods, and even our cat Starchy decided to join us. We don’t have a sledge so George used his initiative to use an old plastic storage box, covered in a bin liner as an impromptu supplement. Well, that caused us all sorts of fun and games! The boys got temporarily lost, Starchy had a brief ride in the sledge, the box got broken before we had even started sledging and then we all ended up sliding down a slope on our bottoms to get home again!
Where we live there are hills everywhere which can make it ideal for sledging but a nightmare for getting around. In hindsight I think we left it a little late to fully benefit from the white stuff, as it was starting to melt away and had left icy patches along the way. Still, it was good fun, and even I managed to channel my inner child to find enjoyment in being in the cold.
Or maybe it was the promise of the hot chocolate and Oreo cookies waiting for us at home…
Have a watch of our YouTube video to see what we got up to and find the Oreos dotted throughout. Make a comment on YouTube with the times of the video when you see a cookie to get a shoutout in our next video!
