Mini Beauty Haul #2
In this Episode of theShugrHeds…
…we review some of the make-up bits n bob we recently bought on Amazon 🙂
Life begins at 40
Isn’t that what they say? Well, I am yet to experience it! All I have discovered is that as soon as I hit 40, my body is letting me down. I am suffering with all sorts of aches and pains that I never had before, and I seem to be more susceptible to picking up bugs!
I see pictures of myself, just 10 years earlier, and I wonder where that person is now. God I feel old! I find myself looking at my skin, my hands and my hair – all showing obvious signs that I am no longer a young lady. I know I am not THAT old, but my brain has not matured at the same rate as my body; in my mind I am still about 28 (30 max). Strangely enough, hitting 30 didn’t bother me at all. Maybe it was that I had just become a mummy with our first son that I didn’t have time for it to affect me… Whatever it was, I do not like being 40!
Time to look after myself a bit more me thinks!
I have known about the importance of a good skincare routine since I was about 20, and have even taught others of the best types of products for their skin type. But I think I was a bit conceited back then and thought I didn’t really need to bother as I have always been blessed with good skin. And who has time anyway right?
These days though I fear my skin is not at it’s best. Wrinkles, dry patches, greasy patches and spots on my chin and jawline! I certainly have even less time than I did back then, now with 3 very demanding kiddies to look after, but I need to make time for me now.
Where do you start?
OK, so I have been out of the beauty scene for quite some time now and I have NO idea which products are in and which are out, who’s the best and who to avoid. So I am going to have to do a bit of my own research and testing. I know there are obviously the big name brands, but I think sometimes you pay for the name and their product is not much better than some of the independent brands. Along with a cleanser and toner, I needed a high quality moisturiser. I had a look on Amazon and see what they had to offer. There is something called Retinol, which is the technical name for Vitamin A, and it seems to be used in anti-aging products for its beneficial effects. I don’t want to spend too much money while I am finding the ones I like and there was a Retinol moisturiser by Radha that caught my eye and in my price range.
Check out our Youtube vlog to see my review of it, along with some other skin care products I tested.
